I have been riding now since 2012. I’ve always been intrigued by mysterious motorcycle riders. I made stories up about “those people”. I would give them exciting lives and make them very cool.
I was brought up on a farm. As a young pre-teen I had a lot of chores to do, and I became my father’s first born son (or so it seemed). No chore was too big, no work was too tough. This is where I get the “I can do that” attitude. I have always put myself up to challenges to prove to myself that I can do it.
In 2011, I became a city ambassador; Klondike Kate of the St. Paul Winter Carnival. Look it up. I’m there! For Reelz! In 2012, when my year of service was complete, I needed to give myself a reward. I decided to buy a motorcycle! My very own bike. 2007 Honda Shadow Spirit. As you can see from the pictures, it is decked out with a reaper theme. Hey! I just bought it that way, but whoa – that day, I really became a bad ass.
I started riding with groups and getting a chance to see this great land from a different point of view. There isn’t a feeling that I love more than having that motor between my legs and letting the wind toss my hair around.
I struggled for some time with cornering. Just in the past 2 years, i have become more comfortable taking corners above the posted speed on a consistent basis.
I have goals for myself for the coming 2 years. I need to get a bigger bike so my wife can tag along on some of our adventures. 1st plan for 2020 is a Circle Tour of Lake Superior. Details will be coming on that…
